Friendly. Bold. Authentic. These words appear in plenty of brand decks. They rarely tell a writer whether the brand should say Hey bestie or Here is what you need to know.

A usable voice comes with decisions and examples. How do you explain something difficult? How do you disagree? How do you apologise when an order goes wrong? What would you never say?

Bring together the people who know the customer and the product. Choose language your audience understands, then show good and poor examples using real situations.

Keep product claims separate from stylistic preferences. A playful tone does not make an unsupported claim acceptable. Maintain an approved reference for facts, specifications and qualifications.

The aim is consistency without sameness. Different posts can sound fresh while feeling like the same organisation. If your agency needs to guess your personality every week, the voice guide needs more than another adjective.
