A dated appearance is easy to spot. An unclear offer, unreliable enquiry process or poorly maintained platform can be harder to diagnose. They may need different responses.
Refresh when the foundations work but the presentation or explanation needs attention. Repair when a specific problem interrupts an otherwise useful journey. Consider rebuilding when the structure or platform repeatedly prevents essential improvements.
Do not let the size of a redesign proposal substitute for a diagnosis. Record the problem, its consequence and the evidence that it exists. Ask whether a targeted change could solve it first.
Our website health check uses 15 everyday questions. Answer Yes for two points, Partly or Not sure for one, and No for zero. It is a conversation starter for business owners, not a technical audit or validated maturity model.
A high score does not prove security or accessibility. A broken purchase, application or enquiry route needs attention whatever the total. Turn ‘not sure’ answers into questions for the person maintaining the website.
Finish with three priorities, an owner for each and a review date. You may need a new website. You may need a better explanation and a working form. Establish which before you buy the whole project.
